Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since that period of that year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his last six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.

However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet rescued four initial opportunities in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he secured the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
